My Canoe

All morning I have been thinking about what I heard at the Bridge last night. (For those of you who haven't heard about the Bridge, it is a worship experience at my church every Wednesday night.) How am I allowing God to move and direct me?

Last night we were challenged to think about how we were paddling and controlling OUR canoe. Are we just cruising in our canoe, laid back, with hands in the air, wanting God do all the work? If we are doing this, it will lead us straight into the bank...landing us nowhere. Are we in our canoe paddling frantically in the water trying to get to where we want to go in life as fast as we can? This will cause us to miss the direction in our life that God is wanting us to go. Or are we paddling in control from side to side. If God leads us one direction, paddle that way and if God leads us in another direction, start padding on the other side. This way your canoe stays afloat and on a controlled steady path.

I pray that I continue to take the steady path in my canoe in my life. What a comfort to know that God is my guide and I just have to listen and follow. How are you paddling in your canoe this week? Let me know if you are out there and reading this. I love comments!

interesting analogy. me I try to let things go with the flow and keep on a straight path. But, there are often times I feel as if I'm paddling against the current and realize that I need to step back, relax and just go with the flow

what a great analogy, I really try to yield to the Holy Spirit, some days I do better than others....the days that I "yield" those are the days where peace abides in my home and joy is evident...the days I try to "paddle" and create my agenda...those aren't such great days they are filled with frustration and at times anxiety....thanks for sharing your analogy and what the Lord is showing you, its inspiring to hear about others and their walk with the Lord.

That is a great way to look at life. It's so easy sometimes for me to be like the other racing canoes trying to hurry to get where I think I need to be. And that ends up actually being harder. I have to remind myself the easiest and best way is to keep it steadily paced with God always in sight ahead.
