Today we spent the day getting ready for company that is coming in town tomorrow! My mother, father, and sister-in-law are coming. Jada was up with her bed made, her teeth brushed, and dressed when I woke up. She is so excited and was excited that today was COOKING day! When we have people come stay we always prepare what we can in advance. That way we have more time to spend with family and less time in the kitchen. So today Skyler helped make my Grandma's 24 hour slaw. Today was the first time I have attempted to make it. Jada made a chocolate cake all by herself. Then all of us made the chicken and rice dish. We had their favorite CD playing while we cooked, which is "Shout Praise Kids..I Am Free." Such a fun day! Also If you look at the next post below you have a chance to win a prize. Go check it out if you haven't already. Tomorrow I will be announcing the winner!
Skyler was peeling an onion...Do you notice his face?
Enjoying the taste of all their hard work today!

I am so loving that chef's hat! Too cute. Enjoy your company!
what a great way to prepare for company. and having kids in the kitchen is such a great thing to do. I let my 20 month old help out cooking from time to time and he loves it already
(thanks for visiting my blog)
Ohhh the chefs hat is TOO darling! He looks like a real miniature chef in it. How wonderful to have the entire family cook together. I am SO SORRY but I have guests and we have our day filled from one end to the other, or I would have SHOULD HAVE promoted your giveaway on my blog ... next time I PROMISE to, so sad I missed this opportunity.
Will we be seeing your recipes all made up, the slaw and cake and chicken and rice? My Sis and I were just remembering our Dad's Chicken and Rice (he's with the Lord now) and our tastebuds were dancing.
THANK YOU for sharing and for emailing me, please do again Tiffany.
hugs to you,
Barb
Your kids are so precious!!! congratulations!! I admire your organization skills at cooking the day before you have company! I had never thought of that! Thanks for the idea ;)
What great pictures! Ava loves to pretend/help cook. That's a great idea to pre-prepare a meal before company arrives. We love to make chicken and rice too (I think Kevin could live off it)!
The little chefs hat is so adorable. My 21 month old loves to help in the kitchen too.... I don't let her do it enough though.
looks like you have some great helpers there! I love getting my kids in the kitchen too. Last night we made pizza........I think they may have eaten more pepperoni than what got on the pizza. So many moms don't take the time to let the kids in the kitchen. It does take patience but it's the stuff memories are made of :)
How fun! Enjoy your family!
How fun!! Tate LOVES to cook too...that's a good idea though to have a cooking day before your guests come so that you can spend more time with them!!
How cute! They look like great cooks!!
Very nice blog!
this is a great idea. I will have to remember this
.
How cute! You have such great little helpers!
The onion face pic is just hilarious!
love the hat... and love his b-ball shirt too!
hope you have great time with your company!
